Q & A – What is Best for Plumbing Systems?
Quality fixtures from leading manufactures are always a good bet. This is especially true with recent State and Federal rules for reduced water consumption. If they screw something up, they’ll stand behind the fix, while lesser manufacturers will wish you the best of luck…
I am now convinced that PEX piping is good material, partly because of its insulating property for temperature and it resistance to water hammering in a building, further enhanced by its ability to freeze solid, not burst and return to its correct size upon thawing. Copper is expensive and will burst when frozen. I like cast iron for vertical waste plumbing drops for quiet performance. I appreciate recirculation loops for hot water delivery to master baths and kitchen areas to eliminate wasted water, waiting for the hot to arrive in the piping.
