In the News: Rick Bernard – A One-man Custom Show
Rick Bernard was featured in a featured article in the Design and Construction section of the Portland Business Today journal on July 31, 1987.
The article by Linda M. Campillo showcases Rick’s one-man operation:
Anyone trying to call Bernard Custom Construction is likely to talk to either an answering machine or Rick Bernard himself.
That’s because Rick Bernard is a one-man operation.
…Bernard prides himself on being an ‘intelligent’ builder who tries to anticipate problems before they happen and anticipate the homeowner’s needs.
“Anyone can build a house, he says. “But the differences that you’ll see are just the intelligence and understanding of how to put things together.”
The article also highlights Rick’s qualifications as a Certified Master Builder with a degree in psychology and another in landscape architecture.
Bernard says he uses his background in landscape architecture to understand the creation of the spaces he’s building for customers. And he uses his background in psychology to deal with customers.
“Building a home for most couples is probably the most trying experience they’ll ever go through,” he says…”An unorganized builder can literally tear a relationship apart.”
